The camp facilities include unheated cabins with wooden or metal bunks; open pit toilets in all cabin sites; and one bathroom/shower house with men's and women's sections. All cabin areas have a lodge building with an inside fireplace and an outside wood/charcoal grill. Players may also bring their own small charcoal or propane stove or grill. There is a large dining hall (tavern) with full kitchen facilities that may be made available for player use if arrangements are made prior to the event.
Since Wyvern Rising events occur from early spring, throughout mid summer, and into the fall, the weather and temperature can be quite variable. Use common sense when planning clothing and sleeping gear. The following is a list of recommended items that will make your experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
Wyvern Rising Rule Book
Of course! This is a virtual necessity for reviewing rules, procedures, and policies. You can purchase the Rule Book at any Wyvern Rising event.
Sleeping Bag or Warm Blankets
The night time temperature can be very cold, particularly in the spring and fall. A pad for the hard bunk is optional.
Space heaters can be rented out for $5 during the cold season, however there is a limited supply and it is first come first serve.
Costume Clothing
Costuming can vary greatly dependent upon your character's Race and Skill Path , but appropriate period attire is required. Make sure your costuming is comfortable, safe, and appropriate for the season. A general rule of thumb is "Renaissance" or "Fantasy" clothing.

Your decision on your Skill Path and Race will have an effect on your costuming. You can be as creative as you want, but there are a few costuming requirements that you may need to abide by according to your character's race.
Boffer Weapon(s)
Each player must supply his/her own weapon(s) and spell packets. Weapons will be inspected for safety during registration. Real weapons including knives and dagger

Props and Decorations
Spell or Prayer books, wands, mugs, candles, tapestries, tools, parchment, and an infinite number of other possible items that are required for game play or that enhance the atmosphere are welcome. WARNING: Candles are not allowed indoors at Hickory Run, but they are allowed in unlit buildings at Camp Kresge.
Flashlight
A light source is recommended, but it must look of appropriate period style. If you use a flashlight, the lens must be covered with red or amber cellophane in order to create the appearance of a torch.
Common Clothing
You will probably want an extra set of common clothing to wear after the event during clean up and check-out. If it's going to rain, it's always a good idea to pack extra socks and shoes. Black clothing is optimal if you will be NPCing on a shift or for the entire weekend. Bring warm clothing or thermals if it's cold weather, as much of the weekend will be spent outside. A wool or fleece cloak will keep you exceptionally warm, and also looks in-game.
Food
Players are responsible for their own meals. The Wyvern Group will usually have hot dogs and hamburgers for sale at the Tavern around dinner time on Saturday. We recommend that NO FOOD BE KEPT IN CABINS. *There is a significant bear, skunk and racoon population on site!* Food should be deposited in a refrigerated area of the tavern (if available) or left in locked vehicles in the parking lot.
Food that you plan to carry around should not be "obviously modern." Soda cans, plastic wrappers or visible lables are not appropriate. Loaves of bread, fresh fruit, vegetables, beef jerky, or food wrapped in cloth is appropriate. Anything that you cannot somehow disguise should be eaten in the kitchen.
Pen or Pencil
A writing instrument is necessary for making notes on character cards and skill/spell/prayer tags.
Toiletries
You will no doubt want personal hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products etc.
First Aid Kit
A small personal kit with a few band-aids and antiseptic can come in handy. Prescription medications are your responsibility, but the staff must be informed of their presence, particularly if you require special treatments for things like bee stings.
Insect Repellent
During the summer the little suckers can be nasty.
Water Bottle
We recommend carrying some water with you, especially during the hot summer months. Try to make the container look appropriate. A water skin or leather-covered bottle works well. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.
Rain Gear
The event activities will continue regardless of weather. Bring a cloak or other over-wear to help keep you dry. Avoid modern plastic, rubber, or nylon raincoats. Remember to bring extra socks and shoes for rainy weather as well.
Money
Real cash is always a good thing to have. After registration fees are paid, players should not need to carry any significant amount of money, though there may occasionally be artisans present from whom you can purchase various products. Also, players tend to work up a ravenous appetite and going out to eat after an event is common.
In the Tavern, the prices of common foods is as follows:
- Hamburgers (Called Meat Patties): $1
- Hot dogs (Called Sausages): $1
- Oatmeal (Called Gruel): $1
- Hot Cocoa: $1
- (Soda costs in-game money. WATER IS FREE!)
